AI Assistant
There's a built-in AI assistant in Bezel. You can chat with it to create tokens, update values, reorganize groups, or get suggestions while working through the Design guides.
Opening it
Click the sparkle icon in the panel header. The assistant opens alongside whatever you're working in, with a welcome message and a chat input at the bottom. Close it the same way.
The chat input
Type your request and press Enter or click send. Use Shift + Enter for a new line.
At the bottom of the panel, next to the scope button, a counter like 18k of 3.5m shows how much of the context window the current session is using against your plan's monthly AI credits. You can usually ignore it. It matters mainly on very large projects, where a long conversation starts to crowd out the tokens themselves.
Chats are saved per project, so you can close the panel and come back to the conversation later.
Group vs Global
In the Tokens tab, a small scope button controls how much of your project the AI can see:

| Global (beta) | The AI can see and modify tokens across your entire project |
Group is the default. Use it for focused work on one set of tokens, and switch to Global when a change spans several groups.
The scope button appears in the Tokens tab. In Design and Code, the assistant is scoped to what you have open (the guide you're working in, or the file you're viewing), so there's nothing to switch.
What it can actually do
It adapts to where you are:
- Tokens — read your tokens, create new ones, update values, and reorganize groups
- Design — suggest color palettes, font pairings, and type scale options for the guide you're in
- Code — answer questions about the file you're viewing. It can't write to your repo; see Code
You can also just ask questions about what's already there before changing anything.
The assistant spends AI credits, which are metered per plan.
